At Sacred Heart Parish, we believe in the power of community and prayer, especially when one of our youngest is facing an incredible challenge. Today, we ask for your support for a brave young boy,
Paul Baglio, and his family as they embark on a journey no child or parent should have to face.
Paul is a second grader at our parish school,
East Boston Central Catholic. He is a spirited young warrior who shares his life with his beloved stuffed buddy, “Benny,” and his biggest supporters: his dad Robert, his mom Jade, and his two brothers and two sisters.
Recently, Paul was diagnosed with
Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer that primarily affects children under the age of five. This fast-growing cancer targets the soft tissues of the body and requires intensive treatment.
Paul is currently receiving care at Boston Children’s Hospital—affectionately called “The Kid Hospital” by Paul himself. Under the expert care of his oncology team, Paul is undergoing a rigorous treatment plan that includes extensive testing, surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation.
Paul’s parents, Robert and Jade, have shown immense courage in explaining to him the journey ahead. With love and guidance, they’ve begun preparing Paul for the many steps in his treatment plan, which will last approximately 42 weeks. This is a long road for such a young child, but Paul’s spirit—and the unwavering love of his family—will see him through.
How You Can Help:The Baglio family is facing significant emotional and financial challenges as they focus on supporting Paul through this difficult time. To help ease the burden, Sacred Heart Parish has organized a collection drive to assist with the family’s expenses. The drive begins now and will end on Palm Sunday, April 13.
The drive will be divided into two phases:
Phase 1: January 1 - March 4
Phase 2: March 5 - April 13 (Lenten Sacrifice)
